This piece was very experimental for me, as it was the first piece I made with vector software, as opposed to raster editing. I've used Krita for just about everything I've made, but recent projects got me thinking about vector graphics and how I could use it to make some fun stuff.
I've had the idea for a FNaF inspired warning sign for a long time, and I figured the Bite of 83 was as good an inspiration as any to take.
The process of vector editing was much different than that of raster editing, so there was a great learning curve for me. Simply creating and moving shapes was a challenge that had to be overcome. I ended up playing around a lot and consulting lots of online guides to figure out how to round corners and rotate shapes.
Onto the actual design itself, a warning sign, by its nature, must be very high contrast and easy to read, so that was a big priority for me. I was originally going to use white as part of the color palette, but I decided the harsh yellow and black was much better. On the note of readability, I really wanted to simplify the shapes of Fredbear and the crying child while also keeping them recognizable. I think I did a good job at that, at least for Fredbear. I am very proud of him, and I think he looks very similar to his minigame counterpart. I was torn on whether or not to give the child a striped shirt, but I decided to in the end just to make the right side of the sign feel a bit less bare. I think it looks okay, though it does kinda make it look like he's just gotten bisected...
In the end, I exported this as both a PNG and a PDF, for higher quality. I am rather pleased with this experiment, and I'd love to have this design or something like it as a sticker or something, which is probably something I will look into in the future.
